The Artists

Sidney Nolan

Between 1947 and 1950 Sidney Nolan spent spent months travelling through remote areas in Australia. This inspired a series of artworks including 'Inland Australia.' He painted the work quickly with the canvas lying flat on a table. The majority of the work was produced from memories of his experiences in inland Australia.

Ricky Swallow

Ricky Swallow produces very accurate wooden sculptures of a variety of common and not so common objects. 'Together is the New Alone' depicts a bird nestled in a shoe. Because of the high level of detail Swallow has in the work he would have required long hours in a comfortable environment to produce it. The work is quite small, 30 x 16 x 15 cm.
